FIRM OVERVIEW

My firm is a second-generation, family practice in Malden, Massachusetts. I have served the greater Boston area since 1995, when I began working for my father, Timothy J. Lane, Jr., who founded his practice in 1976. My practice areas include Elder Law, Estate Planning, Probate & Estate Administration, and Personal Injury. I represent clients in every level of the Massachusetts state court system and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Elder law and estate planning are my primary focus areas. I began practicing in these areas after my grandparents spent close to $300,000 for their nursing home care. Their experience caused me to shift my practice areas in an effort to help others learn more about their legal, financial, and healthcare options. I now help individuals plan for the possibility of nursing home costs and work to protect elders from nursing home abuse and neglect.

I recently represented a plaintiff who died as a result of being entrapped between the side of her bedrail and the mattress. The cause of death was strangulation, and a poor alarm design and failure to install inexpensive safety features contributed to the death of the plaintiff. The case settled shortly after the complaint was filed, and the case led to the redesign of the nursing home's alarm system and an investigation by the Massachusetts Department of Health.

The cornerstone of my success is the personal relationship that I maintain with my clients. I treat my clients like members of my family-with personal attention and personal care. I help manage the affairs of my clients if there are no family members who are available or able to help. I listen to and communicate with my clients in order to provide them with the best legal representation possible. My first-hand experience with these issues has given me a greater understanding of the problems and difficulties involved with these decisions.
